Environmentally-friendly marking and coding
Thursday, December 10th, 2009As consumers around the world become more environmentally aware, packaging companies are beginning to follow suit. Many firms are now moving away from products such as crude oil-based plastics to those made with renewable sources such as wheat.
Markem-Imaje, a global leader in marking and coding, is meeting the challenge with its vast array of leading industrial ink jet printers and print and apply systems which can print on any type of material.
Markem-Imaje is also doing its bit for the environment, with all its inks now solvent free. Markem-Imaje has removed methanol from its entire ink range and is working on reducing the MEK component of its inks as well.
Markem-Imaje’s top selling marking and coding equipment
Thursday, December 10th, 2009On a global scale, the top selling piece of marking and coding equipment at Markem-Imaje is the CIJ – Continuous Ink Jet Printer, which harnesses acoustic energy to generate 62,500 drops of ink per second.
The CIJ is followed by Markem-Imaje’s print and apply systems, including the 2000 Series and 2000 Pallet. The 2000 Series is among the best modular apply print systems in the world. This barcode printer is designed for 24/7 operations and produces up to 100 products per minute. The 2000 Pallet is specially designed for pallet labelling and traceability requirements and can operate at speeds of up to 120 pallets per hour.
The No 3 seller is thermal transfer labelling, which is slightly different to direct thermal printing as there is no chemical reaction taking place, which means thermal transfer can be used on a larger array of surfaces including polypropylene, fabric and PVC.
Markem-Imaje releases advanced 5800 ink jet printer
Thursday, December 10th, 2009Global marking and coding supplier, Markem-Image, has just released its most advanced large character ink jet printer featuring its unique Touch Dry® Hot Melt technology.
Ideal for corrugate cases, trays and wrapping films, the 5800 ink jet printer is a fantastic coding and labelling solution that prints clear text, graphics and bar codes on cases, trays and shrink wraps.
Easily integrated into existing equipment marking production lines, its benefits over previous 5800 models include shorter warm-up times, less cabling, easier functionality and the ability to print dynamic 2D bar code labelling.
Manufacture, sale and service of industrial ink jet printers
Thursday, December 10th, 2009Markem-Imaje is the largest full-service supplier of ink jet printers in the world. Unlike many of its competitors, Markem-Imaje designs and manufactures its own marking and coding equipment and sells them directly to its customers (no re-sales). It then provides ongoing customer support and servicing for all their marking and coding machines.
Markem-Imaje has been in the marking and coding industry for 95 years and services a global community of clients while most of its competitors service only specific geographic regions. This means global multi-nationals can source all their industrial ink jet printers, apply print systems, coding software and barcode equipment from the one marking and coding firm.
Among its many technology innovations is the invention of ink jet for industrial ink jet printers as well as the new Touch Dry® Hot Melt ink range – an instant dry labelling solution used for pallet labelling, food labelling and print and apply systems.
Ink jet printer marks bottles and caps simultaneously
Thursday, December 10th, 2009At the beginning of the year, Markem-Imaje was chosen to supply marking and coding equipment for Pepsi Bottling Group’s second plant in Moscow. With an annual production of 14 million units, each containing 13-14 litres of Lipton® Ice Tea, Pepsi required reliable industrial ink jet printers that met their traceability requirements.
Each bottle required two lines to be printed on the side plus an expiry date on the cap, along with pallet labelling for the transportation crates.
As the first Moscow plant was already using Markem-Imaje industrial ink jet printers and coding software, the managers went back to Markem-Imaje and purchased several 9040 IP65 dual printhead small character ink jet printers. Not only was the cost of the printers very competitive, they were also able to print on the side of the bottles and the caps simultaneously, something several other plants in Russia could not do.
Pepsi Senior Engineering Director, Rajendra Gursahaney, had this to say: “Markem-Imaje is entirely focused on what its customers need, offering them a one-stop point of contact. If I have a technical problem or just need some information, I call the same number. That kind of service is greatly appreciated.”
