Markem-Imaje announces today that it is releasing a new 1100 meter thermal transfer ribbon designed for compatibility with both the SmartDate 3 and SmartDate 5 thermal transfer overprinters.

Compared to its forerunner, the 3810 (600 m long ribbon), the 3820 ribbon is 83 percent longer, offering 500 extra meters. Due to a more efficient manufacturing process, the 3820 has a ten percent smaller CO2 footprint compared to the 3810. The 3820 is also a greener choice in that it puts out 20 percent less waste by having less packaging and 50 percent fewer plastic cores. This longer ribbons offers 45 percent more uptime, and lets users avoid frequent ribbon changes.

Those clients interested in updating to the 3820 ribbon will find that the transition is effortless — designed for plug and play installation, no setting changes will be required for the new transfer ribbon. The ribbon is RoHS compliant.
