Global certification is a major milestone towards company sustainability strategy…

Markem-Imaje announces today that its US manufacturing site in Keene (New Hampshire) has received the ISO 14001:2004 certification for environmental management systems.

This recognition is an official international certification that the company has established strong levels of control in terms of pollution prevention, waste recycling, energy consumption and compliance. In addition to being the manufacturing site for both hot melt and liquid ink technologies, the Keene facility also assembles continuous inkjet printers, laser coders and ink roll coders.

According to the site’s Environment & Safety Manager Mike Chenoweth, “being ISO 14001 certified demonstrates that Markem-Imaje is committed to protecting the environment by complying with applicable regulations, preventing pollution and continually improving our performance. People can trust that Markem-Imaje’s management team is proactively committed to reducing our impact on the environment and the burden for future generations. We are proud of achieving this important certification and are perfectly positioned to demonstrate excellence in our daily operations.”

This ISO 14001 certification is in line with the Markem-Imaje environmental and safety policy that intends to minimize the environmental impacts of its activities while providing its customers with cleaner and safer solutions. With this new certification, all major Markem-Imaje manufacturing platforms – with Bourg-lès-Valence, France and Shanghai, China – are now ISO 14001 compliant.

“This certification is not an end in itself but only the first step of the implementation of Markem-Imaje strategy related to sustainability. When it comes to our environmental impact, our initiatives apply to all life cycles of the products we put on the market. By designing clean marking and coding solutions, manufacturing in the safest and cleanest way and providing our customers with end-life product recovery services, we ensure that we’re doing our best for our customers as well as the planet,” said Sébastien Marcel, Global Environment Manager at Markem-Imaje.

“We are continuously seeking to improve our performance when it comes to sustainable development, so we are extremely pleased to have successfully achieved ISO 14001 certification. It shows our longstanding commitment to the environment and our local communities. The environmental management system we have in place enables us to meet regulatory standards for the management of our chemicals,” said Mark Fish, Supply Chain Director – Keene platform.

This certification confirms that Markem-Imaje is committed to not only providing customers with reliable marking and coding solutions, but doing so in a responsible and sustainable manner.
